§ 2-552. Establishment, composition and general responsibilities of the office of purchasing.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established an office of purchasing, which shall consist of the purchasing agent and such other officers and employees organized into such bureaus, sections and units as may be provided by ordinance or by the direction of the city manager consistent therewith.

    (b)

    The office of purchasing shall be responsible for buying, in the best interest of the city, all materials, supplies, services and equipment for all city departments and agencies. In addition, it shall be responsible for centralized control and disposal of excess, obsolete and salvageable materials and equipment.
